London - Screen legend Sean Connery has given his blessing to Daniel Craig, the British actor who is to play the latest incarnation of superspy, James Bond.
"He's a terrific choice. He's a good actor. It's a completely new departure," said Connery, who made his name playing author Ian Fleming's 007 in seven films.
"Craig's a great choice, really interesting - different," the 75-year-old said in an interview with BBC television.
Craig, 37, will be the sixth actor to play Bond, continuing a tradition that began before he was born, when Connery took the lead role in the 1962 film "Dr No".
His appointment to the role was announced in October. The next instalment in the Bond series - "Casino Royale" - is scheduled for release next year.
