Los Angeles - Former Beatle Sir Paul McCartney is to perform at the Grammys for the first time ever when music's highest awards are handed out next week, organisers said on Thursday.
The 63-year-old singer, composer and music producer - who has won 13 Grammy Awards in his four decade career - has signed on to do a musical act during the awards show that will be held in Los Angeles on February 8.
The pop and rock legend is nominated for three Grammys this year: Album Of The Year and Best Pop Vocal Album for Chaos And Creation In The Backyard and Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for Fine Line.
McCartney was honoured with the Recording Academy's prestigious lifetime achievement award in 1990.
McCartney, one of the two surviving members of the "Fab Four" who changed the course of pop music in the 1960s, will be introduced by United States television star Ellen DeGeneres, according to the Recording Academy.
