Wild Hogs survived a barrage of critical reviews to knock Mr
Bean off the top of the British box office over the weekend,
according to Screen International on Tuesday.
The tale of John Travolta and friends shedding their
suburban shackles to take to the open road roared straight in at
No 1, taking £1.69m including previews.
After two weeks at the top, comic Rowan Atkinson was down in
second spot with Mr Bean's Holiday, which has now amassed £18.3m in its three-week UK run.
Third, down one, was Blades of Glory, with Will Ferrell
and Jon Heder as a pair of rival figure skaters.
New at four was Shooter with Mark Wahlberg as a former
Marine Corps sniper on a mission of revenge, one place above the
ancient Spartan battle of 300 which was down two from third
last week.
Widely acclaimed drama The Lives of Others
Sixth, down one, was the animated boy genius of Meet the
Robinsons, while new at seven was the lavishly staged Chinese
period drama Curse of the Golden Flower.
Mystery thriller Perfect Stranger, starring Halle Berry as
a hard-nosed reporter on the trail of Bruce Willis, was new at
eight.
Coming in at nine was the widely acclaimed drama set in
communist East Berlin, The Lives of Others, and down four in
10th place was the week's biggest faller, North Dakota horror
movie The Messengers.
