Los Angeles - Newly departed HBO mob saga The Sopranos has received 15 Emmy Award nominations including a bid
for best drama.
The Sopranos, which won the Emmy for best drama in 2004
and ended its six-season run last month, will compete for US
television's highest honours against Grey's Anatomy and
Boston Legal from ABC, House from Fox and Heroes from
NBC.
Last year's champion for Emmy comedies, NBC workplace
satire The Office, was nominated again, along with the ABC
hit Ugly Betty, NBC's low-rated critical darling 30 Rock,
the bawdy CBS hit Two and a Half Men and HBO's Hollywood
parody Entourage.
Ugly Betty was the most nominated comedy series, with 11
nods overall.
The 59th annual Primetime Emmy Awards will be broadcast
live from Los Angeles on September 16.
