Strike could affect Grammys
16/01/2008 14:29 - (SA)
Los Angeles - The striking Hollywood writers guild said it likely will not allow its members to work on next month's Grammy Awards telecast.
Gregg Mitchell, a spokesperson for the Writers Guild of America, said Grammy organisers have not asked for a waiver allowing writers to work on the show - and a waiver is unlikely to be granted if requested.
Mitchell also said the guild has not made a decision on whether it will picket the February 10 ceremony, set to air live on CBS.
The Recording Academy did not immediately return calls seeking comment.
The two-month writers strike had a dramatic effect on this week's Golden Globe Awards, shrinking the normally glitzy event to a brief news conference, without celebrities.
The strike also could effect the Academy Awards on February 24.
