Hollywood PI convicted

Los Angeles - Self-proclaimed "private
eye to the stars" Anthony Pellicano was convicted on Thursday
of racketeering after a high-profile two-month trial that
featured testimony from Hollywood celebrities.
A Los Angeles federal jury was still reading out verdicts
on 78 other charges against Pellicano, 64, and four
co-defendants.
The case centred on accusations that Pellicano wire-tapped
telephones and bribed police and telephone company officials to
run illegal checks on those causing trouble for his rich and
famous clients.
