Harry tones butt for Broadway Chanel casts spell on Hermione Potter prequel to be auctioned

London - A set of first edition Harry Potter books signed by author JK Rowling has been sold for £17 800 at auction in Britain, it was reported on Wednesday.

The set of seven hardbacks, each carrying Rowling's signature on their illustrated cover, were sold at Cameo Fine Art Auctioneers in Midgham, in the county of Berkshire near London, late on Tuesday.

Last month, an 800-word Harry Potter prequel written by Rowling was sold at auction for £25 000 to raise money for charity.

Last December, another of her stories, The Tales of Beedle the Bard, fetched £1.95m at auction. - Sapa-dpa
