Cape Town - Piet Koornhof, former NP minister and ambassador to Washington, said on Wednesday there was no truth in the stories that his girlfriend, Marcelle Adams, had plans to move to Germany and marry her new love, Fritz Cherdron.
He said that "Marcelle might visit Germany but she's definitely not planning to move there".
Koornhof's response comes in the wake of a report that Koornhof, 78, and Adams, 34, were parting ways after 12 years.
According to the report, Adams was to take her four children, Maria, 9, twins Samuel and Daniel, 5, and Anna, 1, with her to Germany next year. She would then marry her boyfriend, Cherdron, 53.
Adams earlier admitted that Anna was Cherdron's child. Koornhof is the father of her twins, while Maria was born in an earlier relationship.
Adams, however, refused to comment on Wednesday claiming her contract with You Magazine stipulates that she can only speak to the press next week.
Adams was quoted in You Magazine as saying: "It is not right that the children grow up like this."
"They see their mother with another man while still living with their father. It confuses them," she said.
"Piet loves the children and they love him. It makes it difficult to make that final break but I have to do what I have to do. I have met someone who makes me happy," she said.
Both Koornhof and Cherdron are still married. News24 reported earlier that Adams said Cherdron was prepared to divorce his wife to marry her. "He has always said he wants me to be his wife."
