Cape Town - Janet Jackson's breast flash during the Super Bowl has caused a furore in America. Not only has she beat US President George W Bush in internet news coverage, but South Africa's celebrities are taking a knock as well.
News24's statistics show that articles on Jackson have been the best read stories since Monday.
Wednesday saw Janet Jackson topping News24's charts with the story Janet's boob beats Bush, and the number keeps growing. Not even local actor Deon Coetzee's drunken driving stunt could keep up with the flashy lady.
The best read stories on News24 on Tuesday were Janet gives prime-time breast and Boob blues for Janet. Stories such as More tax relief in store and Emotional Khoza quits have been left eating their dust.
Morné du Plessis, former Springbok captain and manager, was also left behind when he resigned from Sarfu. Jackson's antics proved to be a much better read than the reasons for Du Plessis resignation.
Jackson occupied Die Burger.com's second-best spot on Tuesday, also pushing local Capetonian favourite Du Plessis out of the way. Jackson narrowly missed out on the top spot to the Sizzlers accused story.
In total, News24's stories on Janet Jackson's flash have been accessed more than 26 000 times over the past 24 hours.
While many are fuming over the incident, Jackson has found herself receiving the kind of publicity many stars dream of. As they say, any news is good news for stars.
