Cape Town - Oprah Winfrey, currently in South Africa for The Oprah Magazine's Live Your Best Life event, was spotted on Wednesday at the Cascades Spur in Pietermaritzburg.
Jenny Dreyer, Bisley Park Primary School Grade 6 teacher, told News24 Oprah was "very quiet".
Dreyer was eating at the Spur with two colleagues and the Bisley Park Under 9 Hockey Team while Oprah was dining close by with girls from Heritage Academy in Maritzburg.
The queen of talk is reportedly sponsoring the girls' education.
"She was friendly, but quiet, and quite different from her television persona.
"It was clear she didn't want to draw attention to herself", Dreyer said.
Sitting next to the table of girls, Dreyer also noticed that the group accompanied by Oprah, had burgers for lunch - Oprah included!
"She chatted a lot to the 'semi-speechless' 11-year-old girls, asking them all about their lives. I also noticed her asking one of the girls what she considered to be her best strength", Dreyer added.
After Oprah had finished dining with the girls from Heritage Academy, she joined the Bisley Park group who had their photo taken with the queen of talk - much to their delight.
The Oprah Magazine's Live Your Best Life event will be held at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg on Saturday June 11.
