London - Princess Diana urged her ex-husband Prince Charles to marry his long-time love Camilla Parker Bowles, a British newspaper reported on Friday.

Diana gave him her blessing after becoming good friends with Charles toward the end of her life, her confidante Simone Simmons was quoted as saying in The Sun newspaper.

"Make an honest woman of her," Diana was quoted as telling Charles, reported The Sun, quoting from Simmons' book Diana: The last Word, which it is serialising.

Camilla and Charles, who have known each other for more than 30 years and lived together for several years, married on April 9.

Diana, who died in a Paris car crash in 1997, had blamed Camilla for the break-up of her marriage to Charles, which ended in divorce in 1996.
