Los Angeles - Titanic star Leonardo DiCaprio has bought himself an idyllic island that he plans to turn into an environmentally-friendly resort, People magazine reported on Thursday.
The 30-year-old star of movies including last year's The Aviator and 2000's The Beach, purchased the 41.6-hectare Blackadore Caye island, off the coast of the Central American nation of Belize for around $1.75m.
The star, who is known for trying to keep out of the media glare, is an avid conservationist and has established an environmental foundation, People said.
