Prince gets hands dirty
11/10/2005 13:35 - (SA)
London - Before joining a leading British bank to become wise about money, Prince William has been getting his hands dirty in the retail sector with work at a butcher's shop, the Daily Mail reported on Tuesday.
The 23-year-old prince lent a hand at Chatsworth House, the family home of the Duke of Devonshire in Derbyshire, in a store selling beef and lamb from the estate's farms.
Butchers in the shop are required to wear red aprons, white coats and a straw boater.
A spokesperson for the Prince said: "He's been working in the back of the shop on the Chatsworth estate."
The award-winning farm shop was established in 1977 by the Duchess of Devonshire to sell beef and lamb, as well as venison from the park, to local customers.
William is on a placement at Chatsworth to learn about managing a country estate.
In early November, he will spend three weeks in the City with HSBC bank, ahead of joining the Army next year. - Sapa-dpa
