London - Second in line to the British throne Prince William will enter Britain's top military academy as he follows his younger brother in embarking on an army career, royal officials said on Friday.

The 23-year-old future king said he was "absolutely delighted" after hearing that he had gained admission to the Sandhurst officer training college in Camberley, southeast England.

"I am absolutely delighted to have got over the first hurdle, but I am only too well aware, having spoken so much to Harry, that this is just the beginning," said the elder son of Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana.
