Pretoria - Kurt Darren is incensed because a journalist asked him after an armed robbery ordeal at his house in Centurion last week whether the thieves also had stolen his underpants.
Darren was attacked by four robbers in his house in Zwartkop, Centurion, early on Friday morning and robbed of R10 000 and various household items.
The singer said at the weekend: "I was signing autographs (after a concert at Clanwilliam) when a Son reporter shouted at the top of his voice in front of all the people: "Hi Kurt, I hear they broke into your house and stole all your underpants!"
"I mean, that is really gross. I wanted to get up right there and sock him, but instead I asked the security guards to remove the insensitive person.
"I don't think that journalist has the faintest idea of how it feels to lie on the floor, trussed like a chicken and with a sock in your mouth, with robbers jabbing weapons against your head, threatening to kill you.
'No joke at all!'
"I think it was extremely insensitive and I'm still quite mad about it.
"Nowadays people are attacked and even murdered every day and that is no joke at all!" he said.
He still has no feeling in his left thumb and his body is full of bumps and bruises.
However, Darren did not allow this to deter him and he kept to his schedule for the weekend.
On Friday afternoon, he flew to Cape Town and appeared in concert in Clanwilliam and Paarl.
By Sunday afternoon, he was in Sun City and then performed in Springs in the evening.
"I enjoy being among people. I do not want to be by myself now and I simply continue meeting the commitments of my planned tour.
He said he didn't know where he was going to sleep when he was back in Pretoria.
"Friends and family have offered to accommodate me, but I do not want to inconvenience them.
Anton Goosen sent safety hints
"I also appreciate all the SMS messages of support and calls from my friends in the entertainment world.
"Anton Goosen even sent me a few hints on safety measures," said Darren.
Darren said he did not want to ever go back to that house and already had put it on the market.
He has hired a removal firm to pack all his belongings and he is urgently on the lookout for a house in a security complex.
