Los Angeles - South African actress Charlize Theron has been tipped to play Anna Nicole Smith in a film about her tumultuous life - as a legal battle still rages over Smith's body.
Anna Nicole, the Playboy Playmate turned actress, who married an 89-year-old oil billioniare, died on 8 February 2007 after collapsing at a hotel in Florida.
She was just 39 years old.
According to Starpulse.com Charlize has emerged as the favourite to be cast in the role of Smith.
A source revealed: "You couldn't make up a life story like Anna's. Studios are falling over themselves to pay tribute to an incredible woman.
"There are a number of actresses earmarked to play Anna, but Charlize is the favourite."
It won't be the first time the 31-year-old Charlize plays a controversial real-life character.
Charlize won an Oscar in 2004 for her portrayal of US serial killer Aileen Wuornos in Monster.
Worldwide fame as sex symbol
Anna Nicole's sudden death bears an eerie parallel to the demise of her personal idol, screen legend Marilyn Monroe, who died in 1962 at age 36.
Like Monroe, Smith rose from a troubled background to gain worldwide fame as a sex symbol.
The cause of Smith's death is still under investigation.
