Los Angeles - An actor in the hit US television show Prison Break has been charged with manslaughter following a car crash last year that left a teenager dead, prosecutors said on Thursday.
Lane Garrison, 26, who plays Tweener in the Fox Television series, was charged with vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated as well as drink-drive charges related to the crash on December 2 last year, a statement said.
He was to be arraigned at Beverly Hills Superior Court later on Thursday, the city district attorneys office said.
Garrison was driving his Land Rover sport-utility vehicle when it left the road and struck a tree. No other vehicles were involved.
The actor suffered only minor injuries in the crash but one of his three passengers, teenager Vahagn Setian, later died.
A blood test at hospital revealed Garrison was around two times over California's drunken-driving limit, police said.
Garrison has also been charged with providing alcohol to a minor.
If convicted of the charges, Garrison faces a possible maximum state prison term of six years and eight months.
