  • Los Angeles - Movie star Sandra Bullock won a three-year restraining order on Friday against a stalker accused of trying to run over her husband at her California home last month.

A judge at the hearing in Santa Ana said there was "clear and convincing evidence" that the woman, Marcia Valentine, had repeatedly stalked the actress and her family.

Bullock testified that on five occasions Valentine left woven palm fronds in her yard with "weird signs" and "pieces of animal fur."

She told the court that Valentine tossed the objects over her gate and also left them on a neighbour's property.

Bullock had already been granted a temporary restraining order against Valentine after she was alleged to have attempted to run over Bullock's husband Jesse James during an altercation at the actress's home on April 22.

    Assault with a deadly weapon

The attack took place as Bullock and James' 10-year-old son Jesse JR looked on. Police say they are treating the incident as assault with a deadly weapon.

Valentine was arrested on April 23 and was released after posting bail of $25 000. She is due to re-appear in court on May 22.

Bullock, the star of Speed, Miss Congeniality and last year's best picture Oscar-winner Crash has suffered problems with stalkers in the past.

In 2006 she won a three-year restraining order against a man she accused of stalking her across three US states.
