Spice Girls kick off world tour

Vancouver - The Spice Girls kicked off their comeback tour with their signature song, Spice Up Your Life, in this west coast Canadian city.
The inaugural concert on Sunday for Sporty, Scary, Baby, Ginger and Posh felt like a giant dance party with many of the more than 15 000 in the audience leaping to their feet and holding up cameras in one hand and glow sticks in the other as the British group began the concert.
The group has not toured together since 1999, and various members have since weathered a slew of tabloid scandals, weight battles and alleged spats.
When they took to the multi-level stage with a crew of 10 male dancers, the famous quintet sparkled in gold and bronze outfits by Italian designer Robert Cavalli, with Posh, aka Victoria Beckham, in the shiniest outfit and Ginger, aka Geri Halliwell, bearing the most skin.
They followed up Spice Up Your Life with Stop and Say You'll Be There.
Just hours before they took the stage, Spice Girls fan David Beckham gave each member of the group a special bracelet to mark their return.
'Excited and nervous'
The celebrity soccer player and husband of Victoria Beckham, known as Posh Spice, arrived in Vancouver earlier in the afternoon.
As they prepared for the concert, the performers said they were excited and nervous about their big night.
"You know what, so much time has passed, so much water has gone under the bridge, it's just great to all be back together," said Sporty - aka Melanie Chisholm - wearing brown velour track pants and a gray cardigan.
Although Halliwell left the group in 1998, Chisholm dismissed the notion that there was any tension among the Spices.
"I don't think we ever thought it was the four of us and Geri," she said. "Us coming back together has been five individuals coming back together."
