Robbie gets rude awakening

London - British popstar Robbie Williams was on Wednesday ordered by a court to pay undisclosed damages and apologise for an allegation in song lyrics suggesting that his former Take That manager had stolen funds from the band.
The allegations against ex-manager Nigel Martin Smith were contained in lyrics of Williams' Rudebox album, published in 2006, the High Court in London was told.
"Robbie Williams wishes to make it clear to his fans, and the public at large, that he did not intend these lyrics to be taken at face value or as a serious statement by him of the views which he holds of Nigel Martin Smith," a statement released by the court said.
Williams had also greed to pay damages of an undisclosed amount.
