  • Paris - The eldest son of French President Nicolas Sarkozy is working as a producer of French hip hop and goes by the pseudonym of Mosey from Crime Chantilly, the daily Liberation reported on Monday.

The newspaper said that the news that 22-year-old Pierre Sarkozy was active in the music scene was received with little enthusiasm, as many musicians recall that his father, when he was interior minister, had taken several rap groups to court because of their lyrics.

"The son of Sarkozy is trying to fob off his products under the name Crime Chantilly. Watch out," the rapper Casey told the newspaper.

On his MySpace page, Mosey says he has worked on several hip-hop recordings, including the track La Rue by the rapper Poison.

"At the beginning I didn't know it was Sarkozy's son," Poison was quoted as saying. "I've known it now for six or seven months. I met him at a party. He offered me some sounds.

"When I found out, I flipped out. I called him. He said: 'Poison, I didn't want to tell you. You wouldn't have wanted to hang with me.'"

On the MySpace site, next to his photo, Sarkozy has written: "Hey wadup? I'm Mosey from Crime Chantilly."

He goes on to describe himself as "a young Paris producer (who) with my crew: da Crime Chantilly produced hip hop, soul and rnb beatz."
