  • Los Angeles - Michelle Williams says having a child with Heath Ledger was a "miracle".

The Brokeback Mountain star has revealed giving birth to two-year-old Matilda - whose father Heath tragically died of an accidental prescription drugs overdose on January 22 - has transformed the way she "judges" her body.

She said: "My body has done this totally miraculous but utterly ordinary thing. I feel like I didn't have any relationship with my body before Matilda. Well I did, but it was just a bad one. After having my daughter I can't judge myself in the same way."

Michelle - whose three-year relationship with Heath ended in September last year - admits the couple struggled to cope with being in the public eye.

Speaking to Wonderland magazine prior to Heath's death, she said: "When you're in a relationship with somebody who is also a public personality then it doubles the attention from the media. When you minus that equation it's just less enticing.

"It was so pervading, it got bad there for a while."

Earlier this week, Michelle returned to work for the first time since Heath's death, joining her co-stars for filming on the New York set of upcoming movie Mammoth - BANG Showbiz
