Sydney, Australia - A pair of jeans signed by pop star Sting and the Police has sold for over R150 000 at a charity auction in Australia, organisers said on Thursday.
The jeans, incorporated into an artwork featuring the veteran rock trio, attracted top price at the auction, with a pair of Cameron Diaz's denims the next popular at R114 000, the charity Jeans for Genes said in a statement.
Jeans from stars such as David Duchovny, Suzi Quatro and Jackie Chan went under the hammer at the auction in Sydney, which raised more than R1.9m for the Children's Medical Research Institute.
The auction on Wednesday night preceded Jeans for Genes Day on August 1, which aims to encourage people to wear jeans to work and donate money to the institute.
