Steve's ex hits back

Johannesburg - Steve Hofmeyr's former mistress, Janine van der Vyver says he is suffering from serious memory loss in reaction to allegations the singer makes about her in his new book, Mense van my asem (People of my breath).

In one chapter, he says that "what actually happened in 1997 between us, was sex. Once. Not any sex. Consensual sex."

In the book, Hofmeyr also refers to his relationship with women and his ex-manager Louis van Wyk, religion and his marriage.

He also denied ever having a sexual relationship with Charlize Theron, dating back to when she was relatively unknown.

But his former manager has said he agreed with Van der Vyver that Hofmeyr was not being honest about his life, saying Hofmeyr was living in one reality and the rest of the world in another.

As Van der Vyver is currently involved in a legal battle with Hofmeyr, she did not want to comment. She is suing Hofmeyr for allegedly breaking promises that he made during their ten-year-long relationship.

She has said he was arrogant and that his view of their relationship had changed from earlier this year.

She said the truth would be revealed in court.
