Johannesburg - Radio legend Alex Jay is back on the airwaves courtesy of Gauteng adult contemporary station Highveld Stereo.

Apparently breakfast host Jeremy Mansfield met up with Jay at an industry function at the weekend and cemented a deal whereby Jay will fill in for the Rude Awakening breakfast team while they are on leave from Monday to Friday next week.

Highveld marketing manager Dex De Bruin confirms that Jay will be contracted to the station on a freelance basis and will fill in for existing hosts when necessary.

As yet, nothing more permanent has been signed.

The good news is, however, that Jay will be flown up to Johannesburg this Thursday in preparation for his debut on Highveld next Monday at 06:00.
