Fassie is holding on
03/05/2004 14:52 - (SA)
Johannesburg - Musician Brenda Fassie, in hospital in Johannesburg for over a week, was in a stable condition, her manager Peter Snyman said on Monday.
He refused to elaborate and referred all questions to Leslie Sedibe, a lawyer for Fassie's record company EMI.
"She is still in a stable condition. All tests have been done," Snyman said, adding "talk to Leslie" when asked about test results.
Fassie was admitted to the hospital last Monday after "suffering shortness of breath which according to the doctors led to cardio-respiratory arrest".
"The doctors were able to successfully resuscitate her but regrettably, at that stage, she fell into a coma," Sedibe said on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Gauteng arts and culture MEC Barbara Creecy visited Fassie at the hospital on Monday morning and told SABC radio news that the diva was still alive.
"The MEC says she has seen Brenda and the pop icon is still alive. They have asked the public for support and prayers to help her pull through," SABC radio news reported.
Sedibe could not be reached for comment.
