Politicians flock to Fassie
10/05/2004 10:14 - (SA)
Johannesburg - While pop diva Brenda Fassie's condition remained "neurologically unchanged" on Tuesday afternoon, politicians continued to flock to her bedside, her recording company said.
Doctors at the Sunninghill hospital were still studying the brain scans from the comatose pop star and could give no new information, EMI said in a statement.
However, she was responding well to the treatment for her lung infection.
President Thabo Mbeki and African National Congress heavyweights Kgalema Motlanthe and Smuts Ngonyama visited Fassie on Monday, as well as the ministers of foreign affairs and home affairs, Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma and Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula.
On Tuesday, Pallo Jordan, minister of arts and culture and his deputy Ntombazana Botha went into the intensive care unit carrying baskets of roses.
Musicians Yvonne Chaka Chaka and Arthur Mafokate have also paid her a visit.
Despite the parade of public figures, EMI said Brenda's family had found time for quiet prayer at her bedside.
