Port Elizabeth - The Bay has a new superstar and his name is Bodi.
But Bodi differs from your typical Hollywood star. He's not made of flesh and blood, but he is a formidable actor.
International Robotics in New York designed the intelligent, extremely friendly robot and Eveready has brought him to South Africa.
The robot cost R600 000, but the money was obviously worth it and he has already won fame country-wide with appearances on entertainment programmes.
He ought to be well prepared for life in the spotlight as his elder brother, Sico, appeared in the film Rocky IV in the 1980s. Add to this Bodi's appearances on SABC1's YO!TV, as well as Top Billing and Morning Live, and his CV speaks for itself.
Bodi was recently introduced in popular local soap, 7de Laan, and as of next week he will strut his stuff for about seven episodes in the role of "Dolphie".
The battery company stated this week that Bodi would not only be used to market their wares, but would also do service as a goodwill ambassador.
Bodi is about 1.9m tall and is designed to take part in most human activities. He speaks more than 12 languages and even has his own tour bus.
Bodi's owners say he's favourite saying is: "So many people to meet, but so little time."
