Egoli's golden couple hit rocks

Johannesburg - On the set of popular M-Net soap opera Egoli they are passionate sweethearts and lovers, happily married and planning to have a baby.
But, in real life, the warm and loving relationship between Marlon Roelfze (Shaun, the fitness instructor in Egoli) and Michelle Pienaar (personal assistant Audrey of the Walco big bosses) is on the rocks.
Marlon and Michelle, who coincidentally both got their first big roles in a TV production in Egoli, met on the set.
The plot required them to fall in love, get engaged and marry.
Cupid did not sit around, however, and a few years ago it became known that Marlon and Michelle had fallen in love in their private lives, as well, and planned to marry.
Since then, they have been the glamour couple at social functions and everybody was talking about how much they loved each other.
Have parted amicably
Now, however, everyone who knows is keeping mum about what went wrong just a few days before that special time for lovers, Valentine's Day.
The only thing Marlon and Michelle wanted to say through their agent, Jay Botes, on Wednesday was that they had parted amicably and were still friends.
The question now is: what effect will the end of their personal relationship have on their roles as husband and wife in Egoli.
Series co-producer Burgert Muller said: "Both Marlon and Michelle are professional actors and have undertaken that their personal problems will have no influence on their acting in the series.
"They are supposed to be a loving, happily married couple and that is how it will stay."
