Johannesburg - Several viewers of SABC 2's popular reality dance show, Strictly Come Dancing, were shocked by seemingly racist comments from a competitor and a presenter on Saturday.
Babalwa Mneno, model, social butterfly and leader of the Sundowns soccer team's cheerleaders, said: "That should be a lesson to black people to vote only for each other."
The comment was made shortly after she and dance partner Thabo Moloto had been voted out.
The show's presenter Sandy Ngema said in response: "Yes, yes, absolutely!"
Heidi Pretorius, a spokesperson for the programme, said she was not aware of the comments.
"Because it is a live broadcast, things like that sometimes slip through. If Babalwa said it, it was her opinion and not that of the programme."
Meanwhile viewers saw singer Tamara Dey seriously injure her kneecap during the live broadcast on Saturday.
Dey had to leave the floor in pain shortly after she and dance partner, Brendon Eilers, had started their Ramba performance.
She injured her knee during one of the intricate steps. They couldn't finish the dance, but the judges praised their short performance.
Pretorius said the singer is recovering well and is hoping to continue with the programme this week.
