SA talent to support Live
29/08/2006 12:55 - (SA)
Cape Town - Big Concerts recently announced that super-group Live will be visiting South Africa in October for their most extensive concert series to date - the Black Mountain White Light Tour.
Beginning in Johannesburg on October 27, Live are then scheduled to perform in Durban on October 28, Port Elizabeth on October 30, and finally in Cape Town on October 31 for what promises to be yet another box office success for a band that have dominated the rock charts for almost two decades.
Live will be supported throughout the tour by one of South Africa's most exciting bands, The Parlotones.
The local band's unique style of music and eclectic sound, are the result of eight years of hard work - merging intelligently crafted songs with catchy melodies.
This unique sound, encapsulated by the song Beautiful (off the 2004 Borderline Patrol album) was cleverly incorporated into an Irish television commercial for Fuji film, and as a result it's no surprise that The Parlotones are generating considerable interest from record company executives around the world.
Their latest album, Radiocontrolledrobot won the award for Best Rock Album at this year's South African Music Awards, with the singles Here Comes a Man reaching No 2 and Colourful reaching No 1 on the 5FM charts.
The quartet, Kahn Morbee (vocals, guitar), Neil Pauw (Drums), Paul Hodgson (guitar), and Glen Hodgson (bass, piano, backing vocals), have played several high-profile gigs, supported the Violent Femmes and New Model Army, and also shared the stage at this year's Coca-Cola Colab Massive Mix with rock heavyweights Metallica, Collective Soul, The Rasmus and Simple Plan.
