Johannesburg - The rock group The Parlotones will not only be the opening act next month for the international group Live, but are themselves achieving international stardom.
The rockers Kahn Morbee, lead singer, Neil Pauw, drummer, Paul Hodgson on guitar and Glenn Hodgson on bass guitar, piano and background singing, have signed an international CD contract with Universal Records.
The group's new album, Radiocontrolledrobot, will soon be released in Japan, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Britain and Ireland.
"What can I say, we're excited and terrified," Morbee said earlier this week.
Sovereign Entertainment managing director Raphael Domalik said the ball was set in motion after one of the group's songs, Beautiful, was used for a Fuji Film advertisement in Ireland.
"We contacted Universal in Ireland to hear if they'd be interested in releasing the song as a single," Domalik said.
"They told us they wanted to release a whole album and that Universal in Britain was also interested."
