Egoli actor is hot property

Cape Town - Izak Davel appeared in Egoli for only three months, but could become SA's favourite local celebrity.
Davel is one of the front-runners in gossip magazine heat's Hot 100 list of celebrities.
This list, giving ordinary people a chance to vote for their favourite stars, is one of the magazine's most popular projects.
Davel recently made his debut in Egoli as the son of Louwna (Brümilda van Rensburg), whom she had to give up for adoption years ago. His chances of returning to the soap seem good.
He said it is "fun and a great honour" to be supported so enthusiastically by fans.
Although children and old ladies regularly stop him in the street, his fame "hasn't really sunk in yet".
Besides Egoli, Davel has also acted in a string of theatrical productions, including Joseph and Jesus Christ Superstar.
"They are two completely different mediums, one cannot compare them," he said.
Heat editor Melinda Shaw said local celebs have so far been more popular than last year. Last year's favourites included stars like Jennifer Aniston, Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.
Contestants in the reality series Survivor are also emerging as possible favourites. Shaw said Mzi Tyhokolo, Gareth Tjasink and Jacinda Louw were well supported.
"And it's always exciting to see new names. One example is Davel, who isn't even acting in a soap at present. People were obviously crazy about Scab, his character who was in the soap for only three months."
Shaw thought it would be interesting to see if he would be asked to return to the soap opera because of his "obvious popularity".
Egoli producer Burgert Muller said: "There's a big possibility that we'll bring back the character."
