Johannesburg - Singer Steve Hofmeyr has reacted angrily in his blog to a column written by Afrikaans Idols judge Deon Maas.
The column was published in the Beeld newspaper.
"Because you had to mention my children... I have to warn you that a weekend in prison will be a pleasure while they look for someone who's willing to attach your jaw," Hofmeyr wrote.
He told Maas to "smile while you can".
Maas tackled so-called celebrities in his column and referred to Hofmeyr as a god.
Hofmeyr told Maas in unsavoury language that he was dumb and hated nationally.
Maas wrote in his column about the numerous parties celebrities attend, saying he thought it was for publicity. He pointed out Hofmeyr didn't go to any of these affairs.
"Steve was obviously not there (a party hosted by a glamour magazine) and that's why I like him. He's the master of the game. He's been a celebrity for so many years he's developed it into an art form, or rather elevated it to a business plan."
Maas also pointed out that Hofmeyr once said that only Afrikaans-speaking people should attend his shows.
"... One, of course, wonders if he'll allow his two sons, those who may use his surname, to attend (the concerts)," Maas wrote.
Maas said on Tuesday that he doesn't have further comment.
"I have no interest in reading his blog to see what he says. I was asked by Beeld to write a column reflecting my own views and that's what I'm doing."
