Model Caprice does Dallas

Cape Town - International lingerie model Caprice is currently in South Africa to seduce local fans with an exciting new musical at the Civic Theatre in Johannesburg.
Caprice Bourret, one of the world's most photographed women and especially known for her exclusive Caprice Lingerie Line, is making her debut in South Africa as producer of the 2002 hit off-Broadway musical Debbie Does Dallas.
Unlike the original 1978 adult movie, this musical is a much tamer, fully clothed tongue-in-cheek version.
"The musical is a brilliant comedy with magnificent music and totally different from the original movie," says Caprice.
When asked whether there would be any nudity, she responded with an: "O my goodness, no! It's a bit risqué but we're all wearing fun cheerleader outfits and it's just a good fun play with lots of dry humour."
Caprice is no newcomer to the stage - she has already starred in the West End production of the musical Rent and in The Vagina Monologues.
Lisa the school slut
She told news24.com that the producers of the musical Rent in London's West End first introduced her to Debbie. "I had performed the lead role in Rent in the past, and when they told me about this new musical, I went to see it and just loved it. I loved it so much that I decided to buy the rights to it!"
"I decided to bring out the play to South Africa first and then take it back to London's West End."
Apart from funding the whole project and acting as producer, Caprice will also join in the fun by acting the role of Lisa, the school slut.
"I'm really enjoying the role of Lisa. She is one of the lead characters and the part is quite challenging. It's very hard work to star in a role and act as producer, but I also find it very rewarding," she said.
Supporting cast of top local talent
The production team in South Africa - By Caprice Lingerie, Real Theatre and The Johannesburg Civic Theatre - has brought together a supporting cast of top local talent to join Caprice on stage.
Featured in the title role of Debbie Benton, an all-American girl whose teenage hormones work overtime, is Tanya van Graan who has been featured on television in Hard Copy II, One Way and Snitch II.
Actors Fem Belling, Jacques Terre'Blanche, Alan Ford, Tessa Denton, Brandon Auret, Busisiwe Lurayi, and Pierre van Heerden will make up the rest of the cast.
"I'm very impressed with the local talent and it is great to work together, says Caprice.
"I've already seen the brilliant Fem Belling in the role of Donna in the UK premiere of Debbie Does Dallas: The Musical in 2005 and it's an absolute pleasure that she's agreed to be part of this production as well."
The young Jacques Terre'Blanche (of 2003 M-Net Idols) who features in the role of sex-obsessed teenager Dick, has also made quite an impression on her.
"He has the voice of an angel, looks the part and has come such a long way since we first started with rehearsals."
Big plans for 2007
The year 2007 will be a very busy year for Caprice - and she's got many plans up her sleeve. "Apart from making a huge success of , I'm also planning to expand my lingerie business in South Africa, which is currently sold in Edgars exclusively.
"I want to bring the business to South Africa and make use of local factories and production teams."
The musical Debbie Does Dallas runs at the Johannesburg Civic Theatre from January 16 to February 18 2007 and tickets are available from Computicket.
