Cape Town - Has South Africa's comedy king Leon Schuster decided to launch a new career in Black gospel music?
"It sure sounded like that to me when I listened to his new CD, Op dun Eish, says Myola van As of Goodwood in Cape Town.
After a visit to a music store Van As was astonished to find that her CD, instead of featuring Schuster's latest take on South African politicians and artists, was something completely different.
"The cover and the picture of the CD are Leon's, but the music is pure gospel."
Schuster countered on Monday that it may possibly have been a takeover bid by Mr Bones (from the character in that movie.
"I'm aware of the problem and have received complaints about the faulty CD, even from Gauteng."
"Allow me to apologise immediately, on behalf of my recording company (EMI music)."
Schuster said the problem must have crept in during the mass production process, something that he has no control over.
He has already spoken to Irving Schlosberg, the managing director of EMI Records, who promised to find a solution for the problem.
"People should not be concerned because there will be a way to replace the faulty CD's."
Op dun eish has already gone platinum with more than 50 000 sales.
