Generations star knifed at SABC
18/03/2007 16:33 - (SA)
Johannesburg - Generations actress Katlego Danke had not laid charges after she was stabbed and robbed outside the SABC offices, said Johannesburg police on Sunday.
Captain Bheki Mavundla said police had visited Milpark Hospital where Danke had been admitted to help her open a case only to find that she had been discharged.
"We wanted to help her to open a case, but we were told that she had been treated and discharged.
"She has not come forward to open a case and we cannot do anything until a formal charge has been laid," said Mavundla.
Danke, who is also a trainee DJ at Metro FM, had left the SABC studios about 04:00 on Saturday when she was attacked in the parking lot by a man who stabbed her in the forehead and fled with her handbag.
Metro FM station head Matona Ntshona said SABC security was investigating the incident and extra measures would be taken to protect night staff.
"The safety and security of our staff members is extremely important to us and we will do whatever it takes to find the culprit."
Heist at SABC
In mid-January, President Thabo Mbeki told SABC TV interviewer Tim Modise that crime was not out of control.
"It's not as if someone will walk here to the TV studio in Auckland Park and get shot. That doesn't happen and it won't happen," said Mbeki.
On March 2, Coin security guards were held up by men armed with rifles and pistols in a heist at the SABC.
The heist gang fled in a vehicle which the SABC reported had been hijacked earlier in their complex.
