Johannesburg - Steve Hofmeyr has ended his long-standing working relationship with his music promoter, "King Louis" van Wyk.
He wrote on his blog www.stevehofmeyr.com: "After careful consideration as well as discussions with both parties and until the dust has settled over these events, I distance myself for the time being, with immediate effect, from Musiek Profiel."
This follows after a sexual harassment storm broke about the head of the "King" - also described as the Midas of the music industry - in the past week.
Credibility
On Tuesday morning Steve initially doubted the credibility of Nedine Blom - the singer who accused Van Wyk of sexual harassment.
He wrote in his blog: "If Louis should be innocent (again) I would be severely disappointed in Nedine, because as you know her CD was recently released and any news about it is better than no news."
On Wednesday afternoon he made a U-turn, saying: "I have nothing further to say regarding Van Wyk.
"It's not about guilt or innocence (the case hasn't gone to court yet), but rather about the heavier yoke of perceptions and natural credibility.
"The perception that I would support sex pests or rapists troubles me, but then I am almost as troubled by the back-handed prejudices of those who lap up everything published in the media.
"I am patient and will allow this process to take its course."
