Johannesburg - Actress Tamarin du Toit, who plays Cat in M-Net soapie Egoli, was reportedly attacked by two women at an ATM in Illovo, Johannesburg.
Du Toit, who was on her way to the Egoli recording studio on Thursday morning, had stopped to draw money when the two women, presumably sex workers who operate in the area, started swearing at her and hitting her with their handbags.
Egoli publicist, Gizela Arndt, said the women stormed at Du Toit with their handbags, shouting obscenities.
Nobody knows what sparked the attack, or if they intended to rob her.
It's also not clear if the dastardly deeds of her soapie character had anything to do with the attack.
Arndt said Du Toit arrived at work badly shaken after fleeing from her attackers as quickly as possible.
Du Toit, who was not seriously injured, said it could've been a lot worse, and the incident made her realise that one should always be careful.
It is the third time that an Egoli actor has landed in such a situation.
Earlier this year, two women swore at Hannes van Wyk and threw coffee at him at a filling station because of his character Krynauw's wicked ways.
Late last year Chanelle de Jager (Des) was verbally abused by an over-zealous fan at a pub in Pretoria.
