Johannesburg - From international supermodel to one of South Africa's best-loved TV soapie characters.
That's what fans of the evergreen M-Net soapy Egoli place of gold can expect shortly, judging from rumours doing the rounds in the past few weeks that model Christina Storm has landed a role there.
Egoli producers would neither confirm nor deny on Tuesday that Storm, who was at one stage engaged to former Springbok rugby player James Small, would indeed play the role of the beloved Bienkie.
Esta TerBlanche, who used to play Bienkie, is in Hollywood these days, acting in the soapy All my children, among others.
Burgert Muller, co-producer, said on Tuesday: "We can't confirm anything at this stage because we're still negotiating with Christina about such a possibility."
Storm-in-a-teacup
Meanwhile the news has spread like wildfire amongst the soapie's fans and set off a storm-in-a-teacup on Egoli's website.
Many viewers have expressed reservations about the turn of events, asking what our many talented young actresses are lacking, if a former model is being considered for the role.
"No, really, there are so many actors out there without work, and now they're taking a has-been model," said one irate viewer.
Storm, who has been doing less modelling, is employed these days as a make-up artist, and has helped several South African singers with their music videos.
She's reportedly linked to record boss Sean Else, although they've both strongly denied that they're an item.
Storm was not available for comment on Tuesday.
