Gospel singer shot dead

Johannesburg - A Port Elizabeth gospel singer has been shot dead by robbers near his home in Zwide, Eastern Cape police said on Thursday.
Inspector Dumile Gwavu said Zolile Ndyawa, 35, was fatally shot in the chest while walking alone in Lukwe Street at 20:50 on Wednesday.
He was robbed of his father's identity document, his identity document, two cellphones, tapes and CDs.
Gwavu said Ndyawa's family told the police that he was a solo performer. It was not known to which church he belonged.
Speaking at a 2010 Soccer World Cup conference, Eastern Cape Safety and Security MEC Thobile Mhlahlo urged the community to help the police catch his murderers.
