Johannesburg - Singer Steve Hofmeyr says: "I don't think Louis van Wyk and I will ever speak to each other again."
That's how Steve felt about the unpleasant financial spat between him and former manager and friend Louis van Wyk.
The singer was speaking on the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast on Sunday.
"We're not enemies, but he has damaged our brand name with his controversies."
He said that now that Louis had paid him his R500 000, the money that started the fight, "it's true that still I owe him money."
"But, those are royalties owing to Louis, and the exact amount must still be calculated.
"Louis will get his money as soon as the question of the royalties has been investigated and an amount has been worked out."
Louis, who is holidaying at Margate, responded. "It's heartbreaking and unnecessary.
"Since August, I have sent nine e-mails to Steve, asking him what he still owes me.
"My idea was to offset it against the R500 000 owing to him and to pay him the balance, but Steve kept ignoring me.
Louis said he was not planning to subpoena Steve for alleging on his blog that he wasn't being paid.
Won appeal against rape claim
"I just want to be left alone. I've been through hell and it will take me a lifetime to recover. Steve was my friend, brother and confidant."
Louis and Steve parted ways when the promoter was ordered to pay damages in a civil case in March 2006, to a former secretary who claimed that he'd raped her.
Louis appealed against the decision and won the appeal earlier this year.
Nevertheless, several women, including singers like Nedine Blom and Patricia Lewis, allegedly had complained about his wandering hands.
No "kiss and tell" stories
Louis says that in his autobiography, which will be in bookstores early next year, he will "stand naked, with just my socks on", before readers.
"I can't fill 300 pages with lies."
Yes, he would make Steve blush here and there, but if readers thought they would be getting "kiss and tell" stories from him, they'd be disappointed, he said.
"I must still decide what I'm going to do, but several people in the industry have approached me."
For now, he was on holiday with his children, and he was going to have a neck operation next year.
