Johannesburg - Popular actress Ashley Callie will be remembered in a memorial service at the Johannesburg Country Club on Thursday.

Callie, 32, died on Friday a week after sustaining severe head injuries in a car crash.

She was well-known for her portrayal of Leone Haines in the local television soap opera, Isidingo, and her death has sent shockwaves through the local entertainment community.

"It is very difficult, the cast are supporting each other but it has been very difficult," said Isidingo executive producer Pumla Hopa.

Johannesburg metro police spokesperson Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said the cause of the crash was still being investigated.

"The investigation will take some time," he said.
