Johannesburg - "Like any little girl growing up in a squatter camp, I was a child with only dreams. I never thought they would come true."
Tsotsi star Terry Pheto spoke to Beeld shortly after L'Oréal Paris on Thursday announced that she would be their new face.
Pheto is the face of Even Perfect - L'Oréal Paris's first face care product for dark skins.
It is the first time that the group has selected a South African face.
Big names that have been linked to L'Oréal Paris, are Jane Fonda, Andie MacDowell and Aishwarya Rai, amongst others.
Pheto, who as a child lived in a squatter camp in Evaton, said she was very excited and proud.
"My family is just as excited.
"It is a dream that has come true. I can now be an inspiration to other girls who think things can't happen for them too."
Product manager Maria Pretorius said Pheto was chosen because she was "world class" but also "uniquely South African".
