  • Johannesburg - The movie Jerusalema is a gross injustice and insult on those who sacrificed all else to liberate this country, the MKhonto We Sizwe Military Veterans Association (MKMVA) said on Saturday.

The MKMVA's National Executive Committee met in Johannesburg on Saturday.

"The insult is painful as it does not afford the people of South Africa and our children the opportunity to learn the truth about their history," said national chairperson Kebby Maphatsoe.

"Let history be told as it is and part of who we are as South Africans.

"In any society you find scavengers and social misfits but it would be wrong to say that South Africans are generally by their very nature criminals and that this is a general South African culture," he said.

According to moviesite.co.za, the South African movie tracks the rise of a once-petty criminal from Soweto, climbing to the heights of the criminal underworld, in Hillbrow.
