Monkey on their backpack?

India - Police in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu are at a loss over how to deal with a theft complaint lodged against a monkey, a report said Monday.

The United News of India reported that two foreign tourists had complained to the police in the hill town of Udhagamandalam that they suspected a monkey had stolen a camera and some other items from their room.

The two had found their goods missing recently on return to their holiday resort from a sightseeing tour. A search by the resort management yielded no results.

One of the tourists pointed an accusing finger at a simian reportedly seen near their room. A few others also concurred with the complaint.

Now the police was forced to include the monkey as the suspect though they are at a loss over how to identify the alleged culprit from among the many simians in the area, UNI said.
