Beijing - A man who claimed to be a clone of Osama bin Laden has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for threatening to blow up a major Chinese railway line, state media said on Sunday.
Self-employed decorator Li Dade threatened three times to blow up the Beijing to Hong Kong railway, claiming he had placed explosives on the line, the official Xinhua news agency said.
Police traced Li, who said he was a clone of bin Laden, via the cellphone he used to make the threats in March.
Anti-terror squads were sent to check sections of the line near Beijing and Nanchang after the threats, the agency said.
Li, from Ji'an city in the eastern Jiangxi province, was "very distraught" after losing money on the stock market, it said.
The report did not say if Li had undergone psychiatric assessment. - Sapa-DPA
