Too fat for ambulance

Cairo - An obese woman weighing 450 kilos had to be transported to hospital in a pick-up truck after she couldn't fit in an ambulance, the Egyptian Al-Gumhouriya newspaper reported.
The 40-year-old woman, whose name was not disclosed, had been stranded in bed for several years as a result of several ailments, the newspaper said.
The woman was helped as a result of an initiative from a local television talk show based on highlighting cases of people in trouble and then offering humanitarian help. The talk show host was alerted to the woman's case and suggested transporting her to the hospital.
The newspaper said it took the woman five hours to walk down from her first-floor apartment. When she did not fit into the ambulance car, a pick-up truck was brought. The whole incident was shot and aired on local television. - Sapa-DPA
