Shanghai - A man has been arrested in China's northeastern province of Jilin for tattooing 100 defamatory characters on his girlfriend's body after she tried to break up with him, state media reported on Wednesday.
Zhou, 42, used black ink and a sewing machine needle to forcibly tattoo one-third of his girlfriend's body, said Xinhua news agency.
Li, 52, who had been living with Zhou for six months, was held prisoner after she attempted to end the relationship in October, the report said.
Zhou fled to eastern Shandong province but was caught last month after Li's relatives found out and called the police.
Among the characters written on her back and front as well as her legs were "whore", "seductress" and "prostitute", the report said.
