Los Angeles - Actress Denise Richards, who is six months pregnant with her second child by husband Charlie Sheen, on Wednesday filed for divorce from the former bad boy star after less than three years of marriage.
The 34-year-old Richards cited "irreconcilable differences" as grounds for the split and is seeking full custody of their daughter Sam, who will turn one next week, and the unborn child, court documents showed.
The model-turned-actress, whose movies include the James Bond flick The World Is Not Enough and Wild Things, also requested that Sheen support her and that he be granted visitation rights to the children.
Richards and Sheen, 39, met when they worked on the movie Good Advice and their romance blossomed when she guest-starred on his then hit television situation comedy, Spin City.
The couple married on June 15, 2002.
Sheen, whose film credits include Platoon, Wall Street, Major League and the aviation spoof Hot Shots, was previously married for five months in 1996 to model Donna Peele and has a 20-year-old daughter from a previous relationship.
Before marrying Richards, Sheen had been notorious in Hollywood for a decade as a carouser and "bad boy" actor.
He drew headlines for sex and drug exploits and brushes with the law, including a 1996 attack on a then-girlfriend that resulted in a no contest plea to assault.
Sheen was a central figure in the trial of ex-Hollywood madam Heidi Fleiss in 1996 and testified to spending $50 000 on prostitutes she provided between 1991 and 1993.
Fleiss hit international headlines when officials tried to force her to reveal her "black book" of prostitution clients, who included several Hollywood powerplayers and stars, following her arrest in an undercover sting operation.
